Lost my beautiful blue evil eye right out of the metal that was holding it!

Went to a dance party wearing my beautiful bracelet and when I came home, only the silver band holding the bead in place was left hanging on the bracelet! Are these evil eye beads trained to disengage when someone else needs protection more than I do? So very disappointed as the bracelet was fairly new.
