My dear friend had a devastating diagnosis and although she is only 50 is receiving a lot of chemotherapy which she is told will prolong her life and buy her time but can’t heal her.
She has been having treatment alone because of lockdown over the last year and I gave her a chai bracelet with a red bendel for her to hold and focus on whilst she has her chemotherapy drip.
Because she can’t hold a hand.
One day she called me crying saying all her Mazal had gone - the bracelet had got lost, caught up in her getting dressed and undressed. She was in tears and so was I.
I quickly ordered her two more bracelets so that she has one spare.
She was so happy to put it on and felt encircled with protection.
She holds the chai and she holds onto life.
I tell her to imagine the good things she has left to do.
She is getting married in May and although she still has to be careful because of her lack of immunity,
I said I’d sew something red inside her dress ... do you have anything suitable ? for sure I know she will be wearing your red chai bendel because we both know it is constantly giving her belief... and hope... and that can save a life.
I pray it does.
Thank you so much from us both. I have felt so useless to her, but even in lockdown, far apart I know Lisa feels my love and support, so I’ll keep her supplied!
Shoshana for my friend, Lisa
